While this might seem counterintuitive to some, Dr. Tyler Wheeler, a contributor to WebMD, shares that light weight lifting can be a great exercise for those suffering from issues with back pain. If you’re lifting the weights with proper form, technique, and weight, there should be little if any strain on your back. Just be careful, however, if the pain in your back has been caused by acute strain or injury, as lifting weights in this instance could create more problems than solutions. But if you just have chronic back pain that you’re trying to deal with, using weights to strengthen your muscles in and around your back could be beneficial.
