5 Tips For Starting a New Workout Routine

Wanting to start a new workout routine is a great way to bring a positive change to your lifestyle.  Whether you’re looking to lose weight, build muscle, or simply inject a bit of health into your life, working out is a great way to bring on great results no matter how you look at it.

In order to make sure that you stick to it, and get the best possible experience, here are some of the best tips to get you started.

Choose Something You Enjoy

Choosing a workout routine which you enjoy and get enthused about is key.  If you dread having to get out of bed and do your workout then you’re going it all wrong.

Choose something which you have fun doing and doesn’t cause you discomfort.  There are so many options to choose from that you’re bound to find something that you enjoy over the others.

Who said that you have to get on a treadmill and run in the same direction for 30 minutes for it to be called a workout?  You can do anything that gets your heart rate up. From dancing to yoga. Everyone is different, so choose something that works for you personally.  You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.

Start Slowly

Rather than charging straight ahead in your new program, it’s best to take it slow.  If you push yourself too hard the first day, then you may pull a muscle, burn yourself out too quickly, or lose motivation.

Instead, ease yourself into it and do what you can at your own pace.  Work towards being able to work harder eventually as the end result. There’s no use expecting to be an Olympic athlete the first day.

Take Before Photos

One of the best ways to keep your motivation up is to take photos of yourself before you start your program.  Since sometimes you may not believe you’re making progress, but you actually are, a photo can help you see just how far you’ve come.

As a result, you’ll stay motivated and be proud of the work you’ve achieved.

Be Consistent

It’s important to keep showing up every day and putting in the work.  When you start putting in the time on a consistent basis, then you will see results.

If you only show up every now and then to get in your work out then you’ll see hardly any results at all.

Consider a Workout Partner

Sometimes the best way to stay motivated is by having someone to work out with you.  Try finding a friend who also wants to start a program and make a pact to do it together.
