Fitness After Rehabilitation

Fitness after rehabilitation is important to help prevent problems in the future. A physically injured person can experience issues such as pain, swelling and limitation of movement if not properly rehabilitated. The process of rehabilitating an injury includes strengthening exercises, rehabilitation and stretching to return strength to the body and improve flexibility.

After a traumatic brain injury it is common for the patient to be prescribed with a course of medication to reduce pain and swelling. Often a patient may need to have more than one course of medication to achieve their desired results. There are various ways in which the physical therapist will progress their patient’s rehabilitation. A physical therapist will use different methods based on their training and experience. However there are certain common techniques that they may all follow.

The first technique a physical therapist will teach their patient is to perform exercises and stretches to help increase mobility and strengthen the muscles around the injured area. These types of exercises will help increase the range of motion of the injured part of the body so that it can be manipulated without causing further damage. They should also work on strengthening exercises to help rebuild the muscles which have been damaged.

Another way in which a fitness after rehabilitation program can be progressed is through a regular exercise program. This is beneficial for rehabilitation because it gives the patient a chance to improve their general fitness levels. It is important for the exercise to be fun to keep motivated. The therapist will usually ask the patient to perform basic exercise such as walking, running or jogging. It is important that they return to their previous fitness level within the time allowed by their rehabilitation plan.

Finally it is important that patients stick to the plan given by their physical therapist. It is normal to go back to doing your usual exercises but they must be carried out as part of the rehab plan. For this to be successful they have to follow all instructions given by their physical therapist. Patients should also talk to their family and friends if they feel the need to do so.

Fitness after rehabilitation can be achieved through various methods. They can be carried out alone or in a group. It is important to stick to the schedule given by the therapist and to perform all recommended exercises. If they are not followed then they will not achieve the fitness goals set out by their therapist. Also the patients must remember that rehabilitation does not occur overnight and that it will take several weeks, if not months, for them to reach their full fitness level.
